Long Lines, but Good Times: The Big Apple BBQ

From the Big Apple BBQBrian and Tyler and I partook of this year’s Big Apple BBQ. (Flickr photos.) As expected, the lines were HUGE, but it didn’t stop us from sampling foods from four of the purveyors (I couldn’t quite finish the fourth serving, but not because it wasn’t tasty — you just can’t say no to whole hog).

The lines, while long, moved relatively quickly — I think the longest we waited was about 40 minutes. I’d heard horror stories of 2-hour waits; we hit the right lines at the right times, I guess. Plus, we all waited in separate lines so when we had food, we had a good amount of food. Except for Tyler, who was sent to get beer, but then found he couldn’t leave the beer garden with it., so he had to drink them all. Sure, Tyler.

Kottke Rules!

Kottke Rules!I was watching Just Letters and this magically appeared… It’s amazing that one word was created, much less both, given the competitive nature of the users.

If someone starts working toward a goal, someone inevitably starts working against it.

The Regex Coach

My regular expression skills are lacking. In a big way. Which doesn’t hold me back at all, but every once in a while I have an arduous task that would be much easier if I could just automate it.

So, a friend turned me on to the Regex Coach. Anybody have any experience with this? Anybody have any regex tricks to pass on?
